Notting Hill Carnival

Every year during the August Bank holiday thousands of carnival-goers flock to the west end of London for the largest street party in Europe - The Notting Hill Carnival.

The route which begins at Notting Hill and runs through to Ladbroke Grove becomes enshrined with exotic new smells, the sounds of the world and colourful costumes and outfits. The carnival which has been a regular occurrence for the last 48 years was originally an offshoot of the Trinidad carnival and has kept its roots around Caribbean style outfits, music and food.

For many, the carnival is an opportunity to try new food, with the incredibly popular jerk chicken being first on every menu.
