Travel More - For Less!
Travel more - for less!
We all want to travel some day; whether it’s for a holiday, an adventure or just a little change. However, for most of us, it remains a dream. Let’s face it, almost all of us put off travelling because frankly, it’s quite expensive! So I have decided to compile an article to help you spend less and travel more.
Travel Economy Class!
Let us begin with airfares and air travel. Although not the best way to economise, one way to save the big bucks is to give up some of the utility you receive from your travel. Put simply, its (almost) impossible to save while travelling first class, you’re going to have to cut back on the actual ‘travelling’ part of the experience a little. Try flying with a different airline, or travelling economy class, if you’re brave enough; hitch hike. Don’t be afraid to take a longer flight instead of a stopover. Just remember - what you’re giving up will be compensated for by more money to spend elsewhere.
Find Limited Offers
That being said, special deals do pop up occasionally, thus it is important to keep your eyes open for cheaper fares. Who knows, maybe you will find first class fares for the price of economy. Start looking for tickets on the internet well before you intend to take a trip. Check your favourite airline’s website. You may find that good offers are released a while before they are implemented.
Travel During Off-peak Flying Periods
Certain time frames offer cheaper airline tickets. When airlines experience lighter passenger loads, cheaper tickets are offered. Try not to travel around normal holiday periods. For example, travelling at the end of the year around Christmas costs considerably more than travelling, say two to three months beforehand. Ticket prices increase from around the end of November to the start of January, after which they remain stable until February, followed by further decreases in price.
Use an Online Flight Finder
One of the best ways to sort out your airfares is to use an online flight finding service. These are usually free services offered to find you the cheapest flights and they allow you to compare all competing airlines. It really takes the hassle out of trip planning, providing a useful ‘hub’ where all flights are displayed conveniently together. One such website is GetSet it displays how much it will cost you to travel from one destination to another and the cheapest way to organise your trip. All you have to do is simply enter your location and your destination and prospective travel arrangements will pop up on your screen. It doesn’t get easier than this.
Cut Down on Local Trips
Although airfares are one of the most economically draining aspects of travel, there are many other factors which may be adjusted to achieve maximum economic efficiency. Getting from your hotel to tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping centres can be very costly; chances are you’ll be taking a taxi very often. To cut down on the unnecessary spending, try finding a hotel in close proximity of all the places you plan to go. That way, you can take relaxing walks and really take in and enjoy the holiday experience. Google maps can be surprising insightful in street view.
Consider staying at a hostel or a shared apartment. Sure you won’t get the five star service, but hey; you get to share your experience with someone else!
Have Smaller, More Frequent Holidays
Try not to spend your life savings on one trip; don’t focus all your holiday dreams for one trip. Try going to attractions within your country, take a holiday somewhere different but nearby your home. This way, you may reduce travelling costs and have multiple smaller holidays. Remember, many holidays are always better than a single holiday.
Well, we hope you have your next holiday sooner than expected, cheaper than you expected! The internet is full of website that will assist you in your travelling endeavours. Remember, travel more, spend less.
