Our capital city is one of the premier holiday destinations in The World. Among the many, many visitor attractions in and around London, there are a large number which are suitable for the whole family to enjoy.

A family holiday in London is a good way for parents to bond and spend time with their children and naturally, all parents are on the lookout focus on looking for tourist attractions they can take their children to. London certainly isn’t lacking in this respect as there are a lot of tourist attractions that are suitable for people of all ages, and we explore some of them here.

The first of these is the famous Tower of London, an ancient fortress that is steeped in history. Entire families can take a tour of the Tower, where they can view the popular torture chambers and hear about the ghost sightings of famous historic figures. Of course, visitors may also go to the Jewel House, which features the Crown Jewels. Families who wish to go to the Tower of London are advised to buy their tickets at the Tower Hill Tube station. It is best to visit this tourist attraction during weekdays, because visitors don’t have to deal with large crowds of people.

While Toys R Us holds the distinction of being the biggest toy store in the world, Hamleys declares that it is London’s oldest toy store. Children will certainly enjoy looking through six floors’ worth of toys and visiting the Willy Wonka centre. Parents can also take their kids to the London Eye, the highest observation wheel in Europe. They can enjoy an excellent view of the city skyline and even opt to cruise the Thames River after their ride on the London Eye.

Museums are another family friendly attraction in this city. Parents can choose to visit The Natural History Museum, which feature exhibits of fossils, natural collections, etc., the Imperial War Museum, the Science Museum, and the British Museum. A visit to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens is always fun; children can visit the statue of Peter Pan and the nearby Serpentine Gallery.

Just in case parents want to expose their kids to English culture, there is always the Big Bus tour. This tour takes tourists and locals all over the city, and also gives them the chance to see the other tourist attractions that London has to offer. The changing of the guard in Buckingham Palace is a crowd favourite, and is held for 40 minutes every day.

Families can also enjoy afternoon tea in the Orangery. This tea room offers soups, sandwiches, kettle chips, and delicious Belgian chocolate cake that the children would surely love. The Covent Garden Piazza features not only live entertainment in the form of jugglers and magicians, but also an open-air market where parents can buy souvenirs and food stands that sell Cornish pasties.
