Enjoy some après ski in Italy
Many associate Italy with warm home-made food, big families, historic landmarks and fantastic shopping. But beyond the busy buzz of the city centre you will find amazing scenery, black runs, off-piste and Freerides… I guess some may wonder what I am talking about, I am in fact bragging about the ski resorts of Italy.
After a two hour transfer and watching the scenery change ever so slowly, we arrived in white powdery heaven, otherwise known as Cervinia. The snow was fresh and as fluffy as your feather down duvet! We checked in at the Hotel Sertorelli, and with a quick change of clothes we were out and heading to the slopes; after our short lesson at theBreuil ski school. As beginners we ventured out to Plateau Rosà which was truly a memorable experience. Many have said a ski holiday with friends or family is a difficult one to beat, and finally we can understand why. You really do bond high up in the Alps, picking each other up, cheering when a friend completes a run and then agreeing you have had enough and are extremely happy to mix with the locals and enjoy some, much needed, après ski.
We spent most of our time at the Dragon Bar but there are a number of other, equally good, bars to enjoy. A great place to dine is the Copa Pan they really looked after us, even with some of our friend’s fussy meal requests. On other nights we found some great restaurants offering food a little cheaper they have pizza and pasta menus starting from around 7 Euros or a set meal for about 25 Euros.
After our short weekend we headed back to the city, it’s quite a feeling coming back as though you have found a hidden secret of Italy. We will definitely be going back later this year and will be booking a lovely group holiday and go skiing in Italy 2013 to see what else we can find.
