Top 5: Things to Do in Ibiza

When the summer comes and it’s time for your holiday, why not escape the dull grey skies and go somewhere you can feel the sun kiss your skin?  Ibiza, a small Spanish island with a big reputation, offers just that and more.  Here we listed our five Ibiza highlights, suggestions that  will soon make you want to start looking for Ibiza holidays on Thomson or similar websites.

1.       Nightclubs: One can’t talk about Ibiza without mentioning the opportunities to really cut loose and go wild in the Ibiza nightclub scene. Enticing some of the best DJs from all over the world to come and perform, Ibiza has packed a whole lot of party into such a small place. For the best night out, Space, Privilege, Amnesia and Es Paradis are all renowned clubs.  The music is always changing and the party never stops, so be sure to hit the club on your Ibiza holiday.

2.      Outdoor yoga: Besides party-goers, Ibiza also attracts a number of spiritual people interested in yoga.  Imagine doing the lotus pose underneath the golden sun, breathing the fresh summer air, with gorgeous views of the tree-clad hills and the sea.  Perfection.

3.       The beach: Ibiza claims some of the best views in the Mediterranean and to make the most out of your holiday, the place to watch the sunrise is Café Del Mar in Saint Antoni. Huge crowds gather at dawn and dusk to watch the sunlight sparkle across the water, and whether you’ve been up all night clubbing or just waking up to greet the day, it’s spectacular to see.  For some of Ibiza’s natural beauty, head down to Benirrás Beach to see the rocky outcropping called “God’s Finger” or the longest stretch of sand Playa d’en Bossa for an afternoon of lounging or swimming.

4.       National Parks: With a stunning landscape, there’s much more to Ibiza than what is along the coastline.  If you’re the intrepid sort, venture to one of Ibiza’s two national parks.  Sea Salinas has salt lakes and rocky cliffs, and is home to peregrine falcons and fishing eagles.  The nature reserve of es Vedrà and es Vedranell includes the highest point on the island.

5.      Shopping: In Ibiza, you need little incentive to hit the shops.  Many top designer stores can be found in the port of Ibiza.  If you’re looking for shopping plus a little extra, check out the flea market Cala Llenya on a lazy Sunday afternoon, where you can eat delicious paella and hear live local music.
