On the Beaches in Sharm El Sheikh

If you’re heading off for a holiday to Sharm el Sheikh then it’s likely you’re hoping to spend some time on one of the many beaches along the coastline. Luckily most hotels provide access to the long stretches of golden sand without any extra charge, so once you’ve chosen your resort, you can set about deciding what kinds of activities you’d like to take part in.

There’s so much on offer at every beach, it can be hard to please everyone. That’s why it’s best to plan ahead so you can fit everything in.

For keen divers, Sharm el Sheikh is a great spot to explore life under the sea. There are numerous places to dive, all with crystal clear, temperate waters to make your excursion a pleasant experience. Sharks Bay is a beautiful cove with plenty of facilities for snorkelers and more experienced divers alike. Similarly, Ras Om El Seed is an excellent spot to snorkel, with some beautiful spreads of coral reef.  More adventurous divers might like to head out to Pinky’s Wall, named after the pink colour of the alcyonarian soft coral that grows in the area. Divers here should be aware that the wind can whip the waves up much more than elsewhere. Deep dives can be made down the vertical wall, where you’ll be treated to the site of hard coral and reef fish. The soft pink coral is, however, the main draw of this spot and can be seen at a depth of about 15 metres.

The Ras Mohamed National Park is a fantastic spot for divers and adventurers alike, with stunning landscapes and hugely attractive beaches to dive from. The park itself is about 26km from Na’ama Bay and easily reachable by car.

Families heading to Sharm will be pleased to know there are plenty of beach activities to keep the kids busy. Throughout the day there are games of beach volleyball and tennis as well as kids’ fun clubs to occupy them while you relax. For parents with very young children who wouldn’t be able to snorkel, glass-bottomed boat tours operate from most resorts, which means the whole family can enjoy the fascinating views.

Couples can enjoy romantic strolls along the hot yellow sands and take time to sunbathe together in the relaxing surroundings. Come night time, young lovers may eventually wish to head back down to the beach for a spot of star gazing as the tide rolls back and forth.
