Reasons to Consider A Cruise

Despite often being thought of as a holiday for the more ‘mature’, cruises are in fact becoming increasingly popular with people of all ages. It’s about time too – despite not being everybody’s cup of tea - cruises are indeed an excellent choice for travellers. And if you don’t believe us, we thought we’d regale you with the reasons why…

Firstly, a cruise can be an excellent way of actually seeing the world. If you think about it, on what other type of holiday would you be able to visit multiple locations so easily? By stopping off at various ports, the cruise allows passengers to disembark and explore a particular place, before simply hopping on board and travelling to an entirely new one. For instance, if you were to take a trip to the Caribbean, you wouldn’t only be limited to seeing Jamaica – with a cruise you could also stop off at Puerto Rico, Antigua, Barbados and even more besides…

Secondly, although its critics often talk of feeling trapped on board, without the same amount of freedom a traditional holiday allows – the dreaded ‘cabin fever’ is not much of an issue as you might think, especially considering just how large and well equipped cruise liners are becoming. Instead of being bored, you might actually find yourself getting lost! With the biggest ship in the world measuring in at a whopping 1,181.167 feet, there’s enough room on these things to fill them with endless swimming pools, gyms, and even cinema’s and entertainment facilities.

Similarly, although the actual entertainment on ships get a bad rap – for which we entirely place the blame on Jane McDonald – a lot of cruises are taking a more modern approach. With some hiring big name DJ’s, comedians and fledgling dance acts, there seems to be much more variety and thought put in than the old school warbler.

Finally, as well as the aforementioned assumptions, one of the biggest misconceptions is that they are only for the wealthy. Granted, they can be expensive, but if you’re looking to indulge in a bit of luxury, then you could actually end up getting more bang for your buck. With everything laid on for you - and we’re talking the best buffets you’ll ever experience – you can really go to town and even forget the concept of ‘spending money’. Similarly, and going back to our original point, simply think about how much it would cost if you separate the locations on a Caribbean cruise into different holidays? With the different flights, hotels – not to mention food – it would cost you a bomb.

The answer? Dispel the myth and get on board!
