Europe’s Outdoor Swimming Pools

Although the temperatures in Europe might not always be the warmest, the continent is still very keen to get outside and start swimming in its cities. Here you’ll find a few of the best outdoor swimming pools in Europe. Just try to make your visit fall in summer!

Badeschiff, Berlin

In 2004, a Berlin art project decided that it was time to start swimming on the River Spree. The River is not for swimming in, however, so they created the Badeschiff, a 32 metre long swimming pool floating on the river. The pool was made from the hull of a long ship, which is why its gets its name which literally means ‘Bathing Ship’.

La Piscine Josephine Baker, Paris

If a floating pool on the River Spree was cool, then one on the Seine should be just as exciting. This pool is France’s equivalent of the Badeschiff, and has a retractable roof that is rarely used in the summer, but makes use possible during the winter. The pool was built in 2006 and actually uses water from the river which is treated before entering.

Montjuïc Municipal Pool, Barcelona

Located in the 1992 Olympic Park is this pool which affords spectacular views over Barcelona. Perfect for a summer day, or even suitable for a mild winter one, this is the pool to visit if you love diving boards and great views over one of Europe’s prettiest cities.

Krapfenwaldbad, Vienna

This pool just outside of Vienna offers spectacular view and given that Austria has no beaches, a pool such as this really is appreciated. The views over the city and vineyards are one thing, but the old fashioned changing rooms make you feel like you’ve journeyed back in time. This is one of the busiest places in the whole city, though, in the middle of summer, so don’t expect a quiet swim!

With accommodation in all four of these cities, GoWithOh.com is the place to look to find your apartment to go back to and relax in after your swim. Whether you need to go back and take a hot shower if swimming in winter or if you need that glass of wine from the fridge after a swim in the middle of summer!
