Cancellation Holidays

Being a lover of travelling, scaling the globe and meeting some, let’s say, interesting people along the way, I have come across more than my fair share of travel stories, excuses and tales of extreme madness.

One thing I just can’t seem to get my head around is some of the excuses I have heard from fellow travellers and holiday makers for cancelling their long awaited trip away. Although, you must thank these people for cancelling, as tour operators sell these packages and flights cheaper due to the time period left before the trip and I for one have taken full advantage of this.

I have heard it all from ‘My cat is ill’ to the person actually growing a fear of the country they were meant to be visiting! My favourite has to be this one:

Remember when your parents threatened to cancel the holiday if you continued to misbehave, well for to unlucky boys there holiday was. I met a couple in the hotel I was staying at who actually left their children with the grandparents while they enjoyed the holiday. The story behind it is simply that they warned their two boys, they didn’t listen so they cancelled the child tickets and went without them!

Cancellation holidays do come with great excuses behind them and sometimes they are just utterly ridiculous, but with the excuses we laugh at, also comes cheaper prices on amazing trips. Rather than letting a great experience and holiday go to waste, a range of websites and tour operators give you the chance to pick up a bargain. Not only this, but instead of all the hassle of booking months in advance, paying deposits and sorting all of the other menial tasks you can book a cancellation holiday a matter of hours before you are scheduled to take off.

More and more people plan to go on holiday each year but are unable to due to budget or the fact of not knowing when they can schedule it in. Even the most expensive of trips, like a week-long cruise or a trip to the Bahamas have now been made available for anyone, due to the cut in price.

So if you have finally had enough of work and you need to take a much needed break as soon as possible, I definitely advise looking up cancellation holidays and grab yourself an incredible trip of half the price. Why think you wish you were there when you can be there! Remember if you have to cancel your holiday at some point in the future at least you know that someone else can enjoy the trip for you and paid less than you did.
