The Beautiful Isle of Wight

image

Although a small island off the south coast off the UK, the Isle of Wight certainly doesn’t lack things to do and places to go. No matter what time of the year you choose to go on holiday to the Isle of Wight you will not be disappointed as there are attractions and activities for all of the family all year round as well as being home to the infamous Isle of Wight Music Festival.

The island, as I said, has numerous things to see and do from historic sites to animal and theme parks, the Isle of Wight will not disappoint. They include the Blackgang Chine theme park, taking a scenic walk down to the St Catherine’s Lighthouse, a beach adventure at Alum Bay or even a family walk around Robin Hill Country Park which features 88 acres of unspoilt woodland and incredible park rides.

While you’re there you must pop to Yarmouth to visit the famous Yarmouth Castle, which was Henry VIII’s main defence against the French or even brush up on 2000 years of history by visiting the Brading Roman Villa. If you are lucky enough to experience some sun in between the unbalanced weather patterns of the UK then the Isle of Wight can offer a range of coastal beaches where you can finally sit back and relax after soaking in all of the historic activities and being run round theme parks with the kids.

One beach which I feel is the one to go to is Sandown Beach. This beach benefits from a beautiful landscape and the traditional old fashioned pier and amusement park. In addition to this magnificent beach is the as popular, Ryde Beach, which offers 8 miles of incredible coastline with a seaside fun fair, a pitch and putt and a number of other attractions and activities to keep yourself and the kids entertained.

When heading over why not jump on a ferry to the Isle of Wight as it only takes a few hours to slip over the drink and embark on this beautiful island. There are a number of ports that you can leave from, either hoping on a train to the Portsmouth Harbour or you can head over to Southampton to set sail there.

Most visitors on the Isle of Wight prefer to travel by land whilst on the island so that they can really enjoy the scenic walks and adventures on the way. Although, if you are a fan of trains, you might want to jump onto the Wight Steam Railway. This steam train runs right through the heart of the island allowing you to pass through the quaint villages and endless countryside on your travels.
